Moveable Type: Letterpress in Greenville

I've been a little MIA lately, and completely missed my Valentines posts... all due to a crazy schedule and then a subsequent sinus cold. I'm on the mend now, and eager to get back to posting.

Here's something I'm very excited about, and it's happening tomorrow!

Moveable Type: a letterpress project
Thursday, February 16 from 4pm-7pm
Outside the Hughes Main Library in downtown Greenville
FREE for all ages
Call the library to register, 864.527.9293

From the Indie Craft Parade blog:

We love hosting educational events throughout the year that keep people excited about handmade techniques. So if you’ve ever been interested in — or just curious about — letterpress, this is your chance to learn! We’re starting off this year with a really exciting affair! On February 16, with the help of Hughes Main Library, we are bringing the Moveable Type project to Greenville!

Moveable Type is a portable letterpress studio, run by Kyle Durrie. She is making her way around the country holding demonstrations and workshops on the art of letterpress printing. On Thursday, February 16th from 4-7pm, Kyle will park her studio/truck in front of the Hughes Main Library and set up shop. Our event will begin with a quick introduction video in the library, then move outside to the Type Truck, where Kyle will walk us through creating our own letterpress prints.

The event is free and open to the public, although registration is required. Call the library at 527-9293 to register for the Moveable Type event.

Kyle also makes and sells fun letterpress goods so if you didn’t stock up at Indie Craft Parade or you’ve already used up your stash, bring some cash and support this great idea.

Here's a video about the time Moveable Type came to San Diego...

Let's show Kyle a good time in Greenville! Please come out to learn about letterpress and support this movement. Don't forget, this event is completely free. Just call the library to register,  864.527.9293.

I hope to see you there!

Before & After: Janelle's Bathroom

This before & after is long overdue! I helped my BFF Janelle redo her bathroom in a marathon DIY weekend, and it turned out awesome.

It's a not a huge space by any means, so we weren't able to reconfigure the layout at all. Basically, the bathroom needed a facelift, along with more storage. Everything but the toilet and shower were replaced. The shower is tiled in a pale yellow, and while we weren't crazy about the color, we weren't ready to redo it, so we decided to run with it. In the end, it inspired our color palette of yellow & gray, and the tile ended up complementing instead of clashing. I'm always inclined to work with you have if possible, and in this case it was a success!

Here's a peek at our Pinterest board, where we collaborated on our inspiration.

And here's the before photos...

A look at the tile demolition...

And the beautiful white marble that took it's place! The kitties approve.

And now, the amazing after!

Can you even believe the difference? The bathroom that was once bland and dreary is now chic and soothing. I'm so happy with the way it turned out, and it was such a fun project to work on with my dear friend.

Weekend Glimpse

A weekend full of fun, most of which went undocumented thanks to my photographic laziness.

Chevron wall painting party at a friend's! This is the progress after about 6 hours of measuring, marking, and taping. I'll share the full project when the room is completed and styled.
Spoiler: The wall turned out AWESOME.

This little beauty helped out with the chevron painting. Or at the very least, supervised.

Bookshelf styling at another friend's!
Again, I'll try to share the full room project when it's done.
