Bathroom Design Scheme

My friend Martha just moved into a great new apartment. While the apartment has tons of fantastic features, like any home, it also has a few that are less than ideal... in this case, the bathroom with "vintage" tile. It's not horrible, but peachy-pink and ivory is probably not the color scheme she would have chosen. She asked for my suggestions on what to do.

As you can see, I think the best move is to work with the tile. You can't ignore it, so might as well embrace it.

I'm recommending a warm beige for the walls, to complement the tile scheme. The accent colors of raspberry and gold will work with the existing peach and ivory, and add a dash of sophistication. Martha wants to sew a skirt for the sink and perhaps a shower curtain, so I found a sweet floral that ties all the colors together. A soft ivory shag rug and some coral towels will be perfect for bathtime, and a linen valance will class up the window. A couple of inexpensive bird prints will look perfect in ornate gold frames, and an antique mirror completes the look.

I can't wait to see what she does!
